Which fits

Fair answers first.

Both are good tools for different jobs. Here's where Float is the better pick, and where Halfkit is.

Where Float is stronger

Choose Float if…

  • Cash forecasting is the main job and you want scenarios to compare. Halfkit's cash forecast has no scenarios.
  • You want a focused, polished cash tool rather than a reporting suite.
  • You run one company on QuickBooks Online or Xero and don't need consolidation.
  • You advise clients on cash and want a tool built around that conversation.

Where Halfkit fits

Choose Halfkit if…

  • You need consolidated statements: P&L and balance sheet across companies, with eliminations, currencies and NCI.
  • Any company is on Zoho Books or TallyPrime. Float connects QuickBooks Online and Xero.
  • You want a group cash forecast with intercompany parties left out.
  • You want budgets, rolling forecasts, alerts and board packs in the same tool.
  • You have more than 5 entities. Float's Scale plan covers 5; we couldn't find a published price beyond that.

Pricing, worked out

What 3, 10 and 25 companies cost.

Float prices by plan, not by company. Its multi-entity plan is Scale.

3 companies

Halfkit$38.97/mo3 × $12.99 a month. Or $389.97 a year on annual (3 × $129.99).
Float$315/moScale, billed annually ($389 monthly): the only plan with multiple entities, up to 5.

10 companies

Halfkit$129.90/mo10 × $12.99 a month. Or $1,299.90 a year on annual.

25 companies

Halfkit$324.75/mo25 × $12.99 at list price. Over 10 companies we offer volume pricing, so ask for a quote.
FloatNot publishedWe couldn't find a published price for 25 entities.

Monthly, in US dollars, before tax. Halfkit annual is $129.99 per company per year; in India, ₹999 a month or ₹9,999 a year per company. For a single company, Float Essentials is $105/mo billed annually ($130 monthly). The tools do different jobs, so price alone isn't a fair comparison: some teams use both.

Switching

Moving from Float to Halfkit.

What carries over, what doesn't, and how to check the numbers before you commit.

  1. Decide what you need from cash

If you use Float's scenarios every week, Halfkit won't replace them. If you mainly look at the next few weeks of receipts and payments, Halfkit's 13-week forecast covers it.

  2. Recreate planned items

Add payroll, rent, loan repayments and tax as planned items, once, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and set your minimum cash.

  3. Check the receipts logic

Customers' invoices come in on their due dates; for QuickBooks, aging is spread by bucket, and very overdue amounts count at a collection percentage you set.

  4. Turn on alerts

Set a runway or cash limit and Halfkit emails you, or posts to Slack, when it trips and again when it recovers.

Questions

Halfkit vs Float: questions.

Can Halfkit replace Float?

For a week-by-week outlook from invoices, bills and planned payments, often yes. If you rely on scenarios or Float's deeper cash tooling, no: Float is built for that.

Can Halfkit forecast cash for a whole group?

Yes. Pick a consolidated group and the 13-week forecast covers every company, leaving out intercompany parties with matching names.

Which accounting systems feed the cash forecast?

QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books and TallyPrime, from open invoices and bills. Float connects QuickBooks Online and Xero.
