Year to date & cash

The month in context, and the cash behind it.

The year-to-date table puts the month next to the year so far, so a good September doesn't hide a weak half.

The cash page shows opening and closing cash, the change, runway, months of costs covered and six months of balances. It also splits the change into operating, investing and financing: from QuickBooks' own cash flow statement for QuickBooks companies, and worked out from balance sheet movements for Xero, Zoho Books and Tally.

Around the pack

Commentary, locked figures, a link to share.

AI commentary

Optional, and off until you turn it on.

Switch it on and the pack includes a short written commentary on the month. Each pack with commentary uses one prepaid credit; credits start at $1 for 5. The figures are sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, only when commentary is on.

Period close

Close the month first.

A closed month is served from the figures stored when you closed it. Close September before the 5th and a late edit in a ledger won't change what the board reads. Every close and reopen is logged.

Questions

About board packs.

Do I need AI credits to send a board pack?

No. Commentary is optional. Without it, the pack has everything else and uses no credits.

What if we don't have a budget?

The budget vs actual page appears only when there's a budget. You can set a 12-month budget from last year's actuals; see budgets and rolling forecasts.

Our companies are on Xero and Zoho. Is there a cash page?

Yes: opening and closing cash, the change, runway, months of costs covered and six months of balances. The operating, investing and financing split comes from QuickBooks' cash flow statement for QuickBooks companies, and is worked out from balance sheet movements for Xero, Zoho Books and Tally.

Can I see the pack before the board does?

Yes. Preview builds the PDF without sending it. Send now emails it straight away.
